| Also known as SOFTAIR, these airguns use a spring system, a gas system or a battery powered, motor driven air piston which compresses air and shoots a BB. All the components of this air system are fully contained within the airgun itself. There are no exposed wires or switches. Airsoft guns fire 6mm plastic, 0.2g or 0.25g BB's. These BB's are larger than American BB's (like the ones you would shoot from Daisy or Crossman airguns), and are NOT METAL, but are made of solid plastic. The size of these BB's allows for the use of a magazine to load the airgun. The BB's are spring loaded in a tube magazine, just as is a real firearm. This provides a very reliable feed system. Thus, just as in a real firearm, loading and reloading our airguns is accomplished by changing the magazines. This method adds another dimension of realism, and assists in learning about actual firearms techniques. |
