Archery Targets
Archery is one of the ancient ways of hunting which is still very much in use. Apart from hunting, archery is also a part of recreational and competitive sports. Thus, it is very necessary to have a good archery practice, for those who are hunters or sportsmen in the field of archery. Archery targets are a good way of getting a good practice before the actual hunting expedition or the sporting event.
Today there are more options available for the in the field of archery targets, than was available before. In the past, archery targets meant a big canvas on which many concentric rings of different colors were drawn. This canvas was placed on a layer of hay or cushion and the whole structure was put up on a stand. The archers used to take aim at the center of the concentric rings and the nearer the arrow went to the center, the better. The same concept is still used in all major archery championships, with minor variations in the type of materials used for the target and the associated stand and background.
The Vegas target is another form of archery target that is commonly used for practicing purposes, especially by athletes.
A very similar archery target is the 5-spot target, which increases the degree of difficulty for the practicing archer. This archery target is also used by sportsmen.
It must be kept in mind that the hunters and the sportsmen do not use the same archery targets for practice. In the past, both used the same archery targets for practice, but now, things are different.
The hunters generally practice with the 3 dimensional archery targets that look very similar to the real animal.
The 3-D deer archery targets are used by the hunters who generally hunt deer or other species related to deer.
The 3-D bear archery targets are used for practicing purposes, by those hunters, who hunt bear and animals similar to it.
The 3-D turkey archery targets are used by the hunters, who generally hunt turkeys, ducks, chickens and other similar birds.
The best attribute of these 3-dimensional archery targets is that they can be completely re-packed. It is natural that the main targeting area will be damaged by repeated hitting of the arrow. With a minimum effort, that area can be easily re-packed, for further use.
The latest addition in archery targets is the computer aided targeting system. In this system, computer generated animations and pictures are used to help the archery hunters sharpen their skills. In the animated projections, the animals look and behave like real animals which provide the hunters an opportunity to evolve as experts.
